Installation Instructions

The easiest method for installing Ubuntu 24.10 in a virtual machine is to use the Ubuntu distribution CD.

Before you begin, verify that the following tasks are complete:

Installation Steps

  1. Select the Ubuntu to install. Choose the installation image for the Ubuntu Desktop or Live Server version.
  2. Insert the Ubuntu 24.10 CD/DVD into the CD-ROM drive.
  3. Power on the virtual machine.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
  5. Install Open VM Tools.

Open VM Tools

Open VM Tools is the open-source implementation of VMware Tools and consists of a suite of virtualization utilities that improve the functionality, administration, and management of virtual machines on VMware hypervisors. Use the Open VM Tools redistributed by the operating system vendors.
