Installation Instructions

To install Rocky Linux 10 in a virtual machine, you can use either the standard Rocky Linux distribution CD or the boot floppy/network method. The following installation instructions are for the standard distribution CD.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, verify that the following tasks are complete:

Installation Steps

  1. Create a new virtual machine and select Rocky Linux (64-bit) as the Guest OS option.
  2. Load ISO for OS installation into the virtual machine's CD/DVD drive.
  3. Power on the virtual machine to start installing Rocky Linux 10.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
  5. Set the storage location for installation. In the INSTALLATION SUMMARY screen, click INSTALLATION DESTINATION, select the device(s) you want to install to and click Done.
  6. Set root password and create new users if necessary.
  7. Click Begin Installation to continue.

Open VM Tools

Open VM Tools is the open source implementation of VMware Tools and consist of a suite of virtualization utilities that improves the functionality, administration, and management of virtual machines on VMware hypervisors. VMware recommends using the Open VM Tools redistributed by the operating system vendors.
