Installation Instructions
The easiest method of installing Fedora 16 Desktop Edition in a virtual
machine is to use the Fedora 16 ISO image.
Note: Easy Install of Fedora 16 Desktop Edition is
not supported on VMware Workstation 8.x.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, verify that the following task is complete:

Installation Steps
- From the menu, click Create a New Virtual Machine.
- On the Guest Operating System Installation page, select I will install the operating system later.
- On the Ready to Create Virtual Machine page, click Customize Hardware.
- Select Hardware > New CD/DVD (IDE) and set Device status to Connect at power on.
- Set connection to Use ISO image file and locate the Fedora 16 ISO image.
- Power on the virtual machine to start installing Fedora 16 Desktop Edition.
- Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Select VM > Setting > Hardware > New CD/DVD (IDE) and set connection to Use physical drive.
- Install VMware Tools.
VMware Tools in a Fedora 16 Desktop Edition Guest
You can install VMware Tools in the Fedora 16 guest using the tar installer.
- Open a terminal window.
- Log in as a root user.
- Click Install/Upgrade VMware Tools to mount the VMware Tools virtual disc on the guest operating system.
- Run the VMware Tools installer.
vmware-install.pl - Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
